This course teaches the basic principles of Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy with particular reference to the operation and optimization of the simultaneous Vista ICP. Topics covered include an introduction to atomic spectroscopy, ICP-AES principles and instrumentation, optimization of operating parameters, interferences and corrections, analysis considerations (such as preparation of standards and samples, explanation of "working range"), maintenance, troubleshooting, and applications.
